- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS-
Find answers to common questions about our ordering process, delivery, and payments.
How does ordering work?
You can place an order for a quarter, half, or whole cow directly through our website. A deposit is required to secure your order. Once the animal is ready for processing, we’ll notify you of the final hanging weight and the remaining balance due before delivery or collection.
Why do I have to pay a deposit?
We work on a pre-order system. The deposit confirms your commitment and helps us plan processing and delivery efficiently. Raising and processing cattle is a significant investment, so the deposit ensures that animals are only processed for committed buyers.
Is the deposit refundable if I change my mind?
No. All deposits are non-refundable once paid. By placing an order and paying the deposit, you are committing to purchase. Please read our Terms & conditions before ordering.
What does "hanging weight" mean?
Hanging weight (also called dressed weight) is the weight of the animal after it has been slaughtered, with the hide, head, feet, and internal organs removed — but before it is butchered into cuts.
This is the weight we use to calculate your final cost.
How much meat will I actually receive?
The meat you take home will be less than the hanging weight, as bones, fat, and some moisture are lost during aging and butchering. Typically, you’ll receive 60–70% of the hanging weight in butcher packaged bags, ready for you to pack for your family requirements and then freeze.
Can I choose how the beef is cut?
Yes. Once your order is confirmed, we’ll send you a cut sheet where you can select your preferred cuts. If you need help deciding, we’re happy to guide you. If we don’t receive your selections by the required date, your order will be processed using our standard cut list.
How is the meat packaged?
All meat is packed by the butcher in a labelled bag showing the cut and the weight.
How will I know when my order is ready?
We’ll contact you once the animal has been processed and the beef has been aged (minimum of 2 weeks). At that time, we’ll confirm the final hanging weight, and arrange delivery or collection.
How is delivery handled?
We offer refrigerated delivery to select areas. You’ll receive a delivery day and time window in advance. Someone must be home to receive the delivery and sign for it. Alternatively, you can collect your beef directly from the farm by appointment within 24 hours.
What if I’m not home for the delivery?
If no one is home, we may not be able to leave your order due to food safety regulations. In this case, you may need to arrange an alternate delivery at your cost, or collect your order from the farm.
What if there’s a problem with my order?
We are committed to providing high-quality beef and excellent service. If something doesn’t meet your expectations, please contact us within 24 hours of receiving your order, and we’ll work with you to resolve it.
How much freezer space do I need?
As a general guide:
-
Quarter cow: approx. 80–100L freezer space
-
Half cow: approx. 160–200L freezer space
-
Whole cow: approx. 300–400L freezer space
We recommend a chest freezer for larger orders.
What happens if I don’t pay the final balance?
Final payment is required before delivery or collection. If the balance isn't paid your order will be cancelled and your deposit forfeited.
