The real benefits of eating organic & biodynamic beef
Updated: Oct 9
The nutritional quality of beef is shaped by the environment it comes from. Soil biology, pasture diversity and chemical‑free farming all influence the fat profile, micronutrients and purity of the final product. That’s why organic and biodynamic beef consistently shows better outcomes for both health and flavour.
When the farming system behind the food is clean, the food itself is cleaner - and your body feels the difference.

Cleaner, chemical‑free food
Organic and biodynamic standards prohibit:
synthetic fertilisers
herbicides
drenches and chemical wormers
GMOs
hormone growth promotants
routine antibiotics
This means the beef you’re eating is free from residues that can accumulate in fat, organs and bone marrow in conventional systems.
Clean soil → clean pasture → clean beef.
Higher nutrient density
Healthy, chemical‑free pastures produce beef with:
stronger mineral profiles
higher levels of zinc, iron and selenium
more antioxidants
better omega‑3 to omega‑6 ratios
more beta‑carotene and vitamin E
These nutrients support:
immune function
energy levels
metabolic health
brain and heart health
When the land is nourished, the food is too.
Healthier fat profiles
Biodynamic and organic beef typically contains:
more omega‑3 fatty acids
less omega‑6 (reducing inflammation)
more CLA (linked to metabolic and immune benefits)
cleaner, more stable fat that melts at lower temperatures
This is one of the reasons people often describe biodynamic beef as tasting “cleaner” and feeling lighter in the body.
Better digestibility & bioavailability
Many customers report biodynamic beef feels:
easier to digest
more satisfying
less heavy
more nourishing
This is likely due to:
cleaner fat
better amino acid balance
lower inflammatory compounds
no chemical load for the liver to process
Your body recognises food that hasn’t been interfered with.
A note on choosing truly organic or biodynamic beef
When you’re buying organic or biodynamic beef, it’s worth checking that the farm is certified or in conversion with a recognised body. We’ve been certified for more than 20 years, and like many long‑term producers, we’re currently moving through the re‑certification process after NASAA folded.
Terms like 'grass‑fed' or 'natural' aren’t regulated, so certification is still the clearest way to know your beef comes from genuinely chemical‑free pastures, audited animal welfare, and farming practices that protect soil, animals and human health.
The heart of it all
Organic and biodynamic beef isn’t just 'better beef.' It’s the natural result of a farming system that prioritises:
nutrient density
purity
clean fat
chemical‑free pastures
animal wellbeing
integrity from soil to plate
Healthy soil → healthy pasture → healthy animals → healthy food → healthy people.
That’s the real benefit.

If you’re curious about how biodynamics supports soil health, animal vitality and the whole‑farm ecosystem that makes this nutrient‑dense food possible, we’ve written a separate article that dives into the philosophy behind it.

If you’re curious about biodynamics - whether it’s soil health, BD preparations, natural parasite management or how to bring more life back into your land - Liam is always happy to chat.
He’s spent more than two decades farming biodynamically and regeneratively, learning what works, what doesn’t, and how to read the land with patience and respect. Nothing makes him happier than helping others understand these practices in a real, practical way.
There’s no consulting business (yet), no pressure, no agenda - just a genuine love of sharing knowledge and supporting anyone who wants to farm in a way that’s good for the soil, the animals and the people.
